Israel – A land of contradictions
Secular and religious, millenary history and an ongoing start-up boom, conflict-laden and in search of peace, traditional and modern, desert and coast …
Our study trip to Israel will allow us to get to know and explore the diversity of Israeli society, its tensions and ambivalences, as well as exploring the opportunities for mutual understanding and peace with its Palestinian-Arab neighbors. In the period of the trip are the two Israeli memorial days in memory of the victims of the Nazi extermination of Jews and the fallen of wars and terror (Yom HaSchoa and Yom HaSikaron) as well as the holiday of the founding of Israel (Jom HaAtzma’ut).
In a variety of ways, we will explore the moving history and present of the state of Israel during this journey: What visions drove the founders of the state over 70 years ago, and what has it become? What developments have shaped the country and society? How is the coexistence of people of different cultural, national and religious origins and forms shaped? And what challenges are ahead in the future?
The 10-day program includes exciting encounters, excursions, seminar units and lectures.
